Tribhuvan University’s Institute of Engineering (IOE) has released a revised notice for the entrance examination to admit students into the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) programs for the academic year 2083/084. The exam is conducted through the IOE Entrance Exam Board and covers admission to IOE’s constituent campuses as well as its affiliated colleges.
This exam is the gateway for thousands of students across Nepal who want to study engineering or architecture at IOE’s constituent campuses (Pulchowk, Thapathali, Purwanchal, Pashchimanchal, and Chitwan) or at one of the ten affiliated colleges.

According to the official notice, the entrance exam for 2083/084 will be conducted computer-based, using an item bank (question bank) system, at the following centers:

Once the deadline passes, the online form closes automatically, so applicants are advised not to wait until the last moment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Academic requirement: Applicants must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in grades 11 and 12 (or equivalent), from Tribhuvan University or a recognized institution, at the Proficiency Certificate level, Higher Secondary level, A-Level, or Engineering Diploma level (or equivalent). A minimum of 45% aggregate is required, or, under NEB’s letter grading system, a minimum of C grade in each subject’s final grade. Students who are currently appearing for their grade 12 (or equivalent) final exams, or who are in the final (sixth) semester of an Engineering Diploma, are also eligible to apply.
- Foreign nationals may apply only under the full fee-paying category. One-twelfth (1/12) of the full-fee seats at constituent campuses are reserved for foreign nationals.
Application Process & Fee
- The entrance exam fee is NPR 2,000 (two thousand rupees only), payable through a special voucher issued by any branch of Siddhartha Bank Ltd. within Nepal. Once the bank voucher is cut, the fee is non-refundable.
- Fees can also be paid free of additional charge via Siddhartha BankSmart, or with additional service charges via Connect IPS, eSewa, Khalti, or IME Pay.
- When filling the online form, applicants must enter the bank voucher number or the Transaction ID (for Connect IPS/eSewa/Khalti/IME Pay).
- Applicants must upload: personal details (name, parents’ names, date of birth, permanent address), SLC/SEE and I.Sc./10+2/A-Level/Engineering Diploma (or equivalent) result details, a recent 350×300 pixel color digital photo with a plain background showing the full face (photos of other sizes will not be accepted), and a scanned copy of an identity document (citizenship certificate, national ID card, driving license, passport, or the admit card of the final year/semester exam of I.Sc./10+2/Engineering Diploma).
- After submitting the online form, applicants must print the Acknowledgement Page immediately.
- Applicants should verify their name against their chosen exam date, center, and shift on the Acknowledgement Page, and contact the Entrance Exam Board by 2083/04/04, 1:00 PM if there is any discrepancy. Once confirmed, the exam date, center, and shift cannot be changed.
- Admit cards will be released online in phases after 2083/04/08, based on each applicant’s exam date. Applicants must download and print the admit card in color; it is mandatory to bring it to the exam.
- On exam day, applicants must bring both the printed admit card and the original identity document that was uploaded during the application process.
