Eligibility, Required Documents & Important Notes
To apply for Grade XI admission, candidates must submit:
- One copy of the SEE examination grade sheet
- A recommendation letter/character certificate from the school confirming the student’s age
- For children of serving military personnel — a recommendation letter from the head of the concerned unit confirming the applicant is their son/daughter
- For children of former military personnel — a copy of the pension document
- Passport-size photographs (as specified by the concerned Mahavidyalaya)
Notes:
(a) All candidates — including those who completed their SEE at a Sainik Mahavidyalaya — must compulsorily sit for and qualify through the entrance examination to be admitted into Grade XI.
(b) Under the rank and staff quota policy, only one child per couple is eligible for the fee concession at each academic level (Grades 1–10, Grades 11–12, and Undergraduate). Once one child has used the concession at a given level, a sibling will not receive the same concession at that level, though they may still enroll by paying the full fee applicable to civilian applicants. Additional terms are set by the concerned Sainik Mahavidyalaya.
Admission Procedure
Each year, the Mahavidyalaya admits new Grade 11 students across all streams. Candidates must clear a written entrance examination, an interview, and a medical examination to be considered for admission. Admissions follow a fixed ratio: 60% of seats go to children of serving or retired army personnel (across various categories), and 40% to civilian applicants.
Selection stages:
- Written Entrance Examination — conducted in person at each Mahavidyalaya
- Merit List Preparation — based on entrance exam scores
- Interview — for shortlisted candidates
- Medical Examination — final requirement before confirming admission
Applications can be submitted through the school’s official website or the Principal’s office of the concerned Mahavidyalaya (with fee payment).
